Health Literacy Workshops – held throughout the year – “one to one” or group sessions available
When you talk about health information with your patients/service users, how do you know they have understood it?
Did you know that almost 50% of adults in England do not have the necessary literacy skills to be able to understand and use health information? And that this rises to over 60% when numeracy skills are required? The impact this has on the individual patient, their families and the NHS is far reaching.
The library offers workshops in health literacy awareness – including techniques and tools – which explore what health literacy is, the implication of poor health literacy for the individual, families, society and the NHS as well as some simple techniques to use when presenting information.
The workshop has been designed by Health Education England and been approved by the Royal Society of Public Health. Attendees will receive a certificate on completion of the one hour training for their CPD/revalidation.
Some of the comments from previous attendees include: “Clear slides and clear information”…”plenty of opportunities for interaction”…”excellent being able to access remotely.”
